ALDI Australia’s Lazzio coffee takes top honours at the 2024 Golden Bean Australasia Awards

It’s official! ALDI Australia shoppers can enjoy the BEST COFFEE in Australia for under $0.30 per cup

ALDI Australia has taken the crown for Overall Large Chain / Retail Champion in the world’s largest coffee roasting competition, The Golden Bean.

Bringing together the best in the coffee roasting industry and over 100 industry representatives serving as the Coffee Judges in the prestigious awards, the Large Franchise trophy for this year’s Golden Bean Australasia Awards had been awarded to ALDI’s legacy supplier, Black Bag Roasters – Roasting for ALDI.

From just under $0.30 per cup, ALDI’s award-winning Lazzio coffee beans offers luxury for less, and Aussies clearly can’t get enough.

The full Lazzio range, which includes 10 coffee blends, also scored a further 14 Golden Bean medals in various coffee categories.

ALDI first partnered with the Victorian-based roasters in 2014 and has collected a plethora of awards, as well as a cult-following from customers. Over the past decade that Black Bag Roasters have been supplying the award-winning Lazzio coffee to ALDI exclusively, they’ve seen an increase of weekly coffee production. ALDI’s weekly Lazzio coffee supply has multiplied significantly from 4 tonnes of coffee beans in 2014, to an impressive 65 tonnes sold per week, today.

Through this continued successful partnership with ALDI, Black Bag Roasters have not only been able to expand their range on shelves, but also expand their facilities by opening another roastery located in Melbourne’s key industrial precincts, Truganina. The purpose-built $11 million warehouse is a state-of-the-art facility featuring an impressive 600kg coffee roaster and innovative packing technology. The 600kg coffee roaster is among the biggest investments for coffee roasters in Australian coffee history.

ALDI Australia and Black Bag Roasters has now won the Overall Large Chain Champion at the Golden Bean Australasia Awards six times in the past 10 years and has won the Overall Large Chain Champion for two consecutive years at the World Series Golden Bean Awards.
